Next season is expected to be way faster due to the release of new road bike technology, as they continue to produce quite resilient frames with an unparalleled ride quality, if we must say so. And for 2014, the new Fuji Supreme 1.3 C women’s road bike is able to take it up a notch with upper-tier technology and components from great brands like Oval Concepts, Shimano’s Ultegra, and several more.
Each one of the designs was originally engineered and drafted from the ground up. That Supreme 1.3 C process all started at the computer with key analysis. Once they are on to developing it, they build out structural prototypes that are put through a barrage of testing in the laboratories, which then spits them out for thousands of miles of riding under both skilled engineers and the selective sponsored athlete program. The end result becomes a high degree of engineering mastery. For the ride shown here they built it out of C10 ultra high modulus fibers, making it 30% stiffer than the original version, which also enabled them to use 20% less material this time around. Also worth noting on the Supreme 1.3 C is the large pressfit BB86 combined with super smooth sealed bearings and the tapered headtube to increase the stiffness.
Which brings about the Fuji drive system that’s outfitted complete with Shimano’s Ultegra group. They all work together in harmony to be flawless on both functionality and lightweight performance. This is why they selected to develop the setup with Shimano cranks to provide the efficiency that you require for both hill-climbs and descents alike. Shimano also angled the shift and brake levers outward, which gives a head start on the arc of the shift which helps optimize the women’s hand placement better, both increasing the comfort and efficiency. The ergonomics are further enhanced by a re-profiled perch that reduces overall reach and girth. Also on another note, the derailleur cage will happily accommodate a 28t cog so that when climbing up into the mountain stages you can wind the attack up with confidence.
Fuji utilizes Oval Concepts because they are well know for producing high quality components. As the Oval 733 aero clinchers will provide a speed advantage without going overboard on an aero profile or losing comfort. They are outfitted with Vittoria Zaffiro Pro Slick 23c tires to roll the Supreme 1.3 C out for many miles ahead… Enjoy!
Race-designed geo with amazing weight-to-stiffness ratio.
Proprietary tapered headtube shaves off unnecessary grams while increasing the torsional stiffness for enhanced front end stability.
EMS fork and H-stays provide bumpy asphalt compliance and comfort with improved lateral stiffness.
Dual-tapered shaping for the down tube enhances power to the pedals.
For comparison the weight of the top tier 1.1 model is 15.47 lbs / 7.03 kg, while the version shown here is close at a mere 16.39 lbs / 7.45 kg.
