We are literally just kicking off the 2013 cycling season and Salsa is one of the first companies to unveil their 2014 product, by way of their newest carbon Beargrease fatbike that will be set for purchase prior to next winters snow flurries hitting the ground. High flotation is all the rage these days to say the least, and what a great sign to see them take advantage and latch on to high end innovation that the rest of the industry benefits from. They have reported that the highest level model will be crazy light at 24lbs complete, compared to this years 28.5 lbs aluminum model. They were not able to accomplish such a reduction in weight solely with the frame though, they have equipped it with Sram’s newest amazing XX1 grouppo that is also taking the industry by storm as well, and for the creme`de la creme` they have made a specific XX1 crank for fatbikes! Yes, you heard it right, there is no need to deal with your left shifter pod when your fingertips are numb, all you have to do is hang on, and save up as well because the model will retail at $5500. It has been reported they will have the frame and fork only option as well, along with a SRAM X9 setup for the bike at a mid range price of $3499.99 USD. It also appears both bikes will include a new tapered carbon fat bike fork as well…. Crazy Cool, enjoy the pics, they sent out for the media release!
